History of Microsoft consoles
In 1999 the software giant Microsoft hired a small group of video game developers to create its Xbox video game console.
The project was officially confirmed on March 10, 2000, and in 2001 Microsoft launched its first Xbox console (in collaboration with Intel) to compete against the PlayStation 2, Sony's second console, Nintendo's Gamecube, and Sega's Dreamcast.
